The date August 26 is chosen as International Dogs day as on this date Colleen Paige's family adopted their first dog named 'Sheltie' from an animal shelter home.
Significance of International Dog Day
Dogs have taken a prominent place in many homes. They become the family members of various families. But on many places dogs are being abused and brutally killed. Dogs can't speak but contained all feelings, love and emotions just like human beings. So, this day makes us aware to protect the dogs and give comfort to them instead of beating and killing them.
Equal treatment should be given to all the dogs whether they are pets or stray dogs. Some people harass dogs without any reason which is not only unethical but also a crime. Proper care should be given to the dogs.
How can we celebrate this day
International Dog day can be celebrated by doing something good for the dogs. There are many local and national bodies who work for the welfare of dogs. We can also help them by giving some money as a charity. We can also adopt any dog on this day which will provide the opportunity to rescue the dogs.
