Tokyo Paralympics 2020:- Bhavinaben Patel wins historic silver medal for India

Bhavinaben Patel lost to china's Zhou Ying 0-3. After losing in the final, Bhavina won assured silver medal for India and she becomes second woman who won medal in the paralympics for India after Deepa Malik.

Para table-tennis player of India Bhavinaben Patel wins historic silver medal in the Tokyo paralympics 2020. In the gold medal match of table-tennis women's singles class 4, she lost to world no.1 China's Zhou Ying and wins silver medal. She becomes the second woman who won medal in paralympics for India after Deepa Malik.

Bhavinaben lost to Zhou Ying 7-11, 5-11, 6-11. Zhou is two time gold medallist and she didn't give any chance to Bhavina to win the game. Bhavina has also faced defeat from her in the first match of group stages. As Bhavinaben had already confirmed the silver medal after winning the semi-finals, she opened the medal tally of India in the Tokyo paralympics 2020.

On saturday, Bhavinaben Hasmukhbhai Patel had beaten China's Zhang Miao in women's singles class 4 semifinal. She beat world no. 3 Miao 3-2. 

34 year old Bhavinaben had also defeated Serbia's Borislava Peric Rankovic in the quarterfinals who is the Rio 2016 paralympic gold medallist. 

India has won 12 medals in paralympics so far in the fields- Athletics, Powerlifting and swimming. Bhavinaben won medal in table-tennis which is the new field in which India won the medal.

Deepa Malik was the only woman to win a medal for India in the paralympic games till the date and now Bhavinaben Patel too has joined her by winning silver medal. Deepa Malik had won the silver medal in the shotput at Rio paralympics 2016.

Many sportspersons, celebrities and ministers congratulates Bhavinaben Patel on the historic win of silver medal. PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "The remarkable Bhavina Patel has scripted history! She brings home a historic Silver medal. Congratulations to her for it. Her life journey is motivating and will also draw more youngsters towards sports. #Paralympics"
