Chief minister of delhi imposed week long lockdown in delhi amid covid surge

Delhi government has taken a big step of week long lockdown in delhi from 8 pm tonight till 5 am monday. Delhi government took this step after witnessing covid surge in the capital of india. On sunday, delhi reported 25462 fresh covid cases in 24 hours. Positivity rate of delhi is 30 percent which means every third person is finding as a covid positive after being reported.

CM of delhi Arvind kejriwal has said that he is not in the favour of lockdown because it can't fully control covid-19 but it can control transmission of virus at some extent. He also said that delhi is facing acute shortages of hospital beds, oxygen and anti-viral remdesivir medicine.

'Healthcare system of delhi has not collapsed but it can happen if covid cases will continue to come in this way', he said. There is the need to improve healthcare system and in this week long lockdown we will improve our healthcare system, he added.

Some days ago, delhi government had imposed weekend lockdown in which all restaurants, gyms, parlours, spas, clubs to remain closed and cinema halls were working with 30% capacity. This weekend lockdown has been suspended on sunday so that people of delhi can get some more time for collecting their stocks. But in the week long lockdown, all shops and businesses will remain shut and only essential services will be allowed.

CM Arvind kejriwal has taken this step after the meeting with lieutenent governor of delhi Anil baijal in the morning. In this meeting, it has also been decided that lieutenent governor will make demand of hospital beds from the central government and oxygen supply from the uttar pradesh government.

They said that last year when lockdown was imposed in India, the condition of migrant workers were very pathetic. They had suffered most in that situation. So, government assure them that this  is only 6 days lockdown and they should not leave delhi because government will take care of them. Despite, many migrant workers are reaching on the delhi station and moving to their hometowns.

Weekend lockdowns and curfews have been imposed by many other states and union territories amid the second wave of covid-19. Over 200000 cases are being reported in  the India. This situation is serious and worrisome. Governments are doing their duties with full of enthusiasm and it is also the duty of every citizen to follow the covid-19 protocols for the check on it. Don't go outside the homes without any reason.
