Karnataka government imposed 14 days partial lockdown in the state amid surge in covid cases

 

Karnataka government has imposed 14 days lockdown in the state starting from 27 april 9 pm

CM of karnataka BS Yediyurappa held a high level cabinet meeting on monday. After this three hour long meeting, government has imposed 14 days partial lockdown in the state. Lockdown will start from 9 pm tuesday (27 april).

Essential services would be allowed from 6 am to 10 am for the next two weeks. All industries would remain closed except manufacturing. The garment industries would also remain closed.

Public transport would be banned during the lockdown. Metros will also not operate in the bengaluru city.

Agriculture work would also remain running in the rural areas but agriculture markets in cities would remain closed. Partial lockdown has been imposed by the government a few days ago but now it has been extended for further 14 days amid rise in covid cases.

BS Yediyurappa said that this decision has taken on the expert suggestions because for controlling covid-19, lockdown is essential.

Government would start free covid-19 vaccination for aged between 18 to 44 years from 1 may. Free vaccination process has already been started by the karnataka government for the people aged above 45 yeras. It would also encourage people for taking vaccine.

Yediyurappa said that centre government has been supplying 800 tonnes of oxygen to the hospitals and scarcity of oxygen would not occur in the coming days.

Karnataka has reported more than 34000 cases on sunday and 20000 cases are only from bengaluru city. Chief secretary P Ravi kumar would provide detailed information soon, the CM said.
