After revised Covid-19 vaccination guidelines, more than 85 lakh people vaccinated on first day

On the first day of these revised guidelines, more than 85 lakh people have been vaccinated. Madhya pradesh recorded most 15 lakh jabs on this day.

 

Vaccination process was begin on january 16, 2021 in India

Earlier this month, Prime minister Narendra Modi was issued revised guidelines for Covid-19 vaccination. According to the new guidelines, people between aged 18-44 years will get free vaccine from june 21. On the first day of these revised guidelines, more than 85 lakh people have been vaccinated. Madhya pradesh recorded most 15 lakh jabs on this day.

Government of India had taken this decision after the order of supreme court. PM Modi was come live on june 8 for announcing the revised guidelines. This decision has been taken when India was in much need of vaccination.

More than 85 lakh jabs in one day is all time higher in India. Vaccination process was started on january 16, 2021 in India. Initially, India was administered higher number of vaccination on April 1 which was around 45 lakh jabs but this record has been broken yesterday.

After witnessing such a higher number of vaccination in one day, PM Modi tweeted, "Today’s record-breaking vaccination numbers are gladdening. The vaccine remains our strongest weapon to fight COVID-19. Congratulations to those who got vaccinated and kudos to all the front-line warriors working hard to ensure so many citizens got the vaccine. Well done India!

 Difference between old and revised guidelines

According to the old guidelines, 50% procurement of vaccines was in the hand of Central government and remaining 50% was in the hand of state government which was promoting decentralisation of process. However, several states have complained that they are facing problem in funding then PM Modi issued the new guidelines.

In the new guidelines PM said that now Central government would procure 75% vaccine and remaining 25% would be in the hands of state governments and private hospitals. Private hospitals would charge Rs. 150 as a service charge and state governments would also can take step for controlling the service charges. Vaccination would be free in public hospitals as earlier.

When was vaccination begin in India

Vaccination was begin in India on january 16, 2021. Earlier, vaccination was started only for the health workers, frontline workers and for the people above aged 60 years. After this, Government has started vaccination for the people aged 45 years or above with co-morbidities. Now, vaccination for all the adults between 18-44 years has also started.
