Tokyo Paralympics 2020:- Sumit Antil wins gold medal for India in Javelin throw F64 event, creates new world record

 Sumit Antil wins gold medal with the best throw of 68.85m which is a new world record. He sets world record thrice in the same event. On monday morning, India won four medals within one hour.

India's para athlete Sumit Antil wins gold medal in javelin throw F64 event on monday and creates a new world record thrice. His best throw was 68.85m. His gold medal leads India's medal tally to seven. 

 His first throw was 66.95m long and it creates new world record. Then his second throw was 68.08m which breaked his first world record from first throw. His third and fourth throw were 65.27m and 66.71m respectively.

His fifth throw of 66.85m again breaked his previous record and creates new world record. He finished his sixth and final throw with foul but his fifth throw was enough to win a gold medal. In the same event, there was another Indian player Sandeep Chaudhary who finished at fourth place with his personal best of 62.20m.

Australia's Michael Burian clinched silver medal and Sri lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku bagged bronze medal in this event.

On monday morning, India won four medals within one hour. There was one gold, two silvers and one bronze medal and in the evening Sumit Antil's gold medal added in this. Hence, India won total five medals on monday.

The day started with Avani Lekhara's gold medal. She won this medal in women's Air rifle standing SH1 event with the total score of 249.6m which is equal to World record. She became India's first woman to win gold medal in paralympics. Overall she is the fourth Indian gold medallist. Before her, Murlikant Petkar has won gold medal in swimming (1972), Devendra Jhajharia in javelin throw (2004, 2016) and Mariyappan Thangavelu in high jump (2016).

After Avani Lekhara, Yogesh Kathunia won silver medal in men's discus throw F56 event with the best throw of 44.38m. Then, Devendra Jhajharia clinched silver medal in javelin throw F46 event with the best throw of 64.35m. This is Devendra Jhajharia's third medal in the olympics.

Sundar Singh Gurjar won bronze medal in the same event with the best throw of 64.01m. On monday, India's day was very good in the Tokyo paralympics 2020. 

India's medal tally was opened on sunday with Bhavina Patel's silver medal in women's table-tennis class 4. On the same day, Nishad Kumar won silver medal in high jump T47 event and set an asian record.
