Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns as the Punjab Congress President on tuesday. Sidhu took to twitter and wrote a letter about his resignation to AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi. He also said that he will continue to serve the Congress.

His resignation comes just after a few days of appointment of new CM of Punjab. Earlier, Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as Punjab CM amid long tussle between Sidhu and him. Then, Congress High command made the new CM of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi.

When Congress High Command was choosing the new CM, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was almost confirmed for the CM post but Sidhu was not happy with this decision. He said that if Congress wants to make the new CM Jatt Sikh then his name should be considered.

When Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was almost ready to become the CM, Sidhu left the hotel and switched off his phone for almost 45 minutes. Then, Congress compromised and chose the Charanjit Singh Channi as the new CM.

At that time, Sidhu was happy with this decision but now with Sidhu's resignation, it can be said that he was not happy with this decision.

Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi, "The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner. I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress."

It is also believed that Sidhu was unhappy with the name of Rana Gurjit Singh in the new cabinet of Charanjit Singh Channi as Rana's name was involved in the sand mining. Congress didn't consider Sidhu's objection on this matter.

Another reason of Sidhu's resignation is giving powerful home department to Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.

Sidhu was appointed as the president of Punjab Congress in July by the Congress high command but Captain Amarinder Singh was not happy with high command's this decision. Now on Sidhu's resignation, Captain tweeted, "I told you so…he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of punjab."
