Tokyo Paralympics:- Manish Narwal clinches India's third gold, Singhraj Adana wins bronze medal

The 19 years old Manish wins gold with the total 218.2 points which is a paralympic record. Singhraj Adana bags silver medal in the same event. It is the second medal of Singhraj in the paralympics. On friday, India won three medals- one silver and two bronze.

India's Para pistol shooter Manish Narwal clinches gold medal in P4 Mixed 50m pistol SH1 event. It is India's third gold medal in the ongoing paralympics. In the same event, Singhraj Adana bags silver medal.

19 years old Manish wins gold with the total 218.2 points which is a paralympic record. In the qualification round, he was at 7th position with the total score of 533 and Singhraj was at 4th place with the score of 536. India's Akash was at 27th place, failed to qualify for the final.

Russian paralympic committee's Sergey Malyshev wins bronze medal in this event with the total score of 196.8.

Manish has an impairment to his right hand. SH1 event is for those paralympic players who have an impairment in one arm or legs for example amputation or paraplegia.

Manish Narwal belongs to Faridabad, India. He began shooting in 2016 in Ballabhgarh. He always wanted to be footballer but due to impairment he couldn't play the game beyond local club level. A close friend of his father told him to think about introducing Narwal to shooting. Then, his father took him to shooting academy in Ballabhgarh.

Jamaican sprinter Usain bolt and Footballer Lionel Messi are his idols. In 2020, Manish received Arjuna award. Recently In march, Manish won gold medal in AI Ain 2021 world shooting para sport World cup with the new world record of 229.1 points.

Besides Manish Narwal's gold, Singhraj Adana also wins silver medal with the total score of 216.7. Singhraj had also won bronze medal in P1 men's 10m air pistol SH1 event with total score of 216.8. In that event, Manish had failed to win medal, finished at 7th spot with the total score of 135.8.

This has been proving India's best ever paralympics. India has won 15 medals so far including 3 gold. On friday, India won total three medals- one silver and two bronze. 18 years old Praveen Kumar won silver in men's high jump T64 event with the asian record of 2.07m. Avani Lekhara won bronze medal in women's 50m rifle 3P SH1 and Archer Harvinder Singh also won bronze medal in men's singles recurve archery. He beat South Korea's Kim Min Su 6-5 in the shoot-off. It is the first ever olympic medal in archery for India.
