India has achieved the milestone of 1 billion Covid-19 vaccinations, PM Modi and Amit Shah congratulates

In India, the vaccination drive was started on January 16, 2021. Now, India has achieved the milestone of more than 100 crore vaccine shots. Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah congratulate India on this achievement.

 

India has witnessed more than 1 billion Covid-19 vaccine shots on October 21, 2021

India has witnessed the 1 billion Covid-19 vaccinations on October 21, 2021 thursday. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the biggest achievement of India. In India, the vaccination drive was started on January 16, 2021. Now, India has administered most vaccine doses after China.

Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah congratulate India on this biggest achievement. PM said that now India has strong protective shield against the Covid-19 pandemic by witnessing 1 billion vaccinations. He further said that It can't be possible without healthcare and frontline workers. He thanked all the vaccine producers, marketers and transporters for helping in crossing the 1 billion vaccinations landmark.

"India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians. Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this feat. #VaccineCentury." PM tweeted.

Home minister Amit Shah tweeted that this is the historic and proud moment! With the visionary leadership and encouragement of Shri Narendra Modi, India has achieved the target of more than 100 crore vaccinations which has re-acquainted the whole world with the immense potential of New India.

This vaccine journey was started on January 16, 2021. Initially, vaccine was started for all the healthline workers. After that, frontline workers have been vaccinated. From March 1, 2021 vaccination process for the people above 60 years and above 45 years with co-morbidities was begun.

From May 1, vaccination was opened for all the adults above 18 age group. Many people came a fore to take vaccine which is the only reason that India achieved this milestone. Initially, there was a hesitancy among the people for taking the jab but soon they trusted on vaccine and came a fore to take the vaccine.

There are three vaccines which are being  used in India. These include Covishield (Oxford Astrazeneca's vaccine produced by Serum Institute of India), Covaxin (Bharat Biotech Ltd.) and Sputnik V (produced in Russia).

Almost 70% population of India has taken the first dose of vaccine and almost 26% population has taken both the doses. Now, India's next target is to vaccinate all the adults till December 2021.
