Bajrang Punia became world no. 1 wrestler again by winning in Rome

 Bajrang Punia won gold medal at Matteo Pellicone ranking series in Rome. With this win, he became world no.1 wrestler again in 65 kg. category.

In the final match of 65 kg. category, Bajrang Punia defeated Mongolia's Tulga Tumur Ochir. Before last 30 seconds, he was trailing with 0-2 but in the last 30 seconds, he changed the match by getting 2 points. Since the last scoring point came from Punia and he was declared winner.

When this tournament was started, at that time Punia was on no.2 position but he finished it with no.1 position by winning gold. The fresh rankings are based on results of only this tournament which means gold-medalists get the top spot.

Bajrang said that he improved his leg defence during the lockdown period. He worked hard on his leg defence and the training at Michigan university in USA has also helped him.

In this tournament, Vishal Kaliramana too impressed in the non-olympic 70 kg. category by winning a bronze.
