Central government has released the rankings of cities in ease of living index. Bengalaru is the best city for living and Pune is on no. 2 position in above 1 million population category. In less than 1 million population category, Shimla is on the top.
This index has been conducted on the opinion of 32 lakh people in 111 cities. 21 measurements are considered for this index. The main measurements are education, health, security system, entertainment and economic opportunity. Index was based on two categories:-
- More than million population
- Less than million population
In more than million population, Bareilly, Dhanbad and Srinagar are on the lowest rankings.
Chandigarh and Indore are on the top in the quality of education. Amritsar is on the fourth position in this category. The quality of life is very good in Chennai and Coimbatore. Coimbatore is also on the top in security system and entertainment.
Municipal Performance Index
Government also released the Municipal Performance Index. In the more than million category, Indore is on the top followed by Surat and Bhopal. In the less than million category, New delhi municipal council emerged as the leader.
The motive behind preparing this index is to show the positions of different cities in the different categories.
