Pakistan will host the World Environment Day 2021

June 5 is observed as World Environment Day across the world. This day was come into existence in early 70s on the initiative of United Nations. This day awares the people about the importance of environment. The main reason behind celebrating this day is to protect the mother earth.
Covid-19 pandemic shows the mirror that if anyone would do anything wrong with the environment then its result could be dangerous. Every year on this day, United Nations organise some theme. Governments, NGO's and many other institutions collectively celebrates this day by spreading awareness among the people about the environment.
Theme of World Environment Day 2021
'Reimagine. Recreate.Restore' is the theme of World Environment Day 2021. Its purpose is ecosystem restoration. On this basis, United Nations will launch UN Decade programme which would be 10 years programme to stopping the environmental degradation.
Every year, some country host the World Environment Day. This year, Pakistan will host this day and with the collaboration of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), it will spread awareness about the ecosystem restoration.
History of World Environment Day
This day was launched by United Nations General Assembly in 1972 which was the first day of Stockholm conference on the human environment. However, it was celebrated first time in United States in 1974 with the theme 'Only One Earth'. Since 1974, it has been celebrating every year in the whole world.
Significance of World Environment Day
World Environment Day promotes the importance of environment in the human life. All the living beings can survive on the earth only because of environment. It provides basic necessaties to human beings i.e. Air, Water, Heat etc. Besides this, it also provides wood, rubber, medicines, food and many more other things which requires in day to day life.
But due to increase in population, need of more land and food, environment is destroying day by day. Number of factories and vehicles are increasing and it leads to increase in pollution whether air, water, soil or noise pollution.
Only people across the globe can stop the pollution by taking collective actions. Each and every people need to plant more and more trees and use pollution free vehicles. There is the need to protect the environment because it is necessary for the future generation.
