Former CM of Himachal pradesh Virbhadra Singh has died due to post Covid complications

 The Himachal pradesh government declares 3 day mourning from july 8 to july 10 to honour Virbhadra Singh. Virbhadra remained nine time MLA, five time MP and six times chief minister of Himachal pradesh.

Six times Chief minister of Himachal pradesh and senior congress leader Virbhadra Singh has died on thursday morning. His age was 87. He was admitted in Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). He suffered from cardiac arrest on monday and was on ventilator support in the presence of medical team.

Senior medical superintendant of IGMC Dr. Janak Raj said that Virbhadra Singh died on thursday at 3:40 am in IGMC.

Virbhadra Singh was tested Covid-19 positive on April 12 and earlier he was admitted at Chandigarh hospital and discharged from there on April 30 after his health improves. He came to his home on April 30 and within few hours, he again complained about breathlessness and then admitted to IGMC. On June 11, he again tested Covid-19 positive.

Virbhadra remained nine time MLA, five time MP and six times chief minister of Himachal pradesh. His wife Pratibha Singh and their Son Vikramaditya Singh are also a politician.

Virbhadra Singh was BA (Hons.) and MA educated at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla and St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He was come in politics in 1962 when he was elected in Lok Sabha elections. He also served as state Congress president in 1977, 1979, 1980 and 2012.

Virbhadra Singh also served as Union deputy minister, Union minister of steel, Civil Aviation and Tourism minister, State minister for industries and Union minister of micro, small and medium enterprises. In 2017, he was re-elected in 13th Vidhan Sabha from Arki in Solan district.

He was one of the most prominent leaders of congress party who had ruled from almost six decades in himachal pradesh. His death has left the congress party in vacuum as no other minister ruled in any state like he did.
