India celebrates Doctor's Day every year on July 1 for expressing gratitude towards the doctors for their selfless services. Covid-19 pandemic has taught us that what is the importance of doctors in our lives. Whenever anyone feels sick, they don't get tension because they know doctor is there who will treat me.
This day is celebrated not only in India but other countries also celebrate it, however on different dates. US celebrates it on 30th march and Cuba on 3rd december. During the Covid-19 period, we should be thankful to our doctors and medical staff because they have protected so many precious lives from this dangerous pandemic.

Doctor's day has been celebrating since 1991 in India. July 1 marks the birth as well as death anniversary of one of the most renowned physicians in India, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was also the second chief minister of West Bengal.
He established many medical institutions in India like Chittaranjan Seva Sadan for children and women, Chittaranjan Cancer hospital, Jadavpur T.B. hospital, Kamala Nehru Memorial hospital and Victoria College.
He received India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on February 4, 1961. This day is celebrated for recognising his contributions towards the country. Hence, Doctor's day honours the BC Roy in India.

Doctor's are the protection layer of human beings who protects us from harmful diseases. Health of the public is more important for doctors than money. Many doctors offer their services at cheap prices which is economical for weaker sections. In the Covid-19 time, they are doing their work for the welfare of public without caring of their own families which is not possible for every human being.
