Tokyo Paralympics 2020:- Avani Lekhara wins gold medal for India in women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event

The 19 year old Avani Lekhara scored total 249.6 points. She wins gold medal and creates paralympic record which is also equal to world record.  In the qualification round, Avani was finished at seventh position with the total score of 621.7.

 

Avani Lekhara becomes first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the paralympics

India's para shooter Avani Lekhara wins gold medal in women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event. It is India's first gold medal in the ongoing Tokyo paralympics.

The 19 year old Avani Lekhara scored total 249.6 points. She wins gold medal and creates paralympic record which is also equal to world record. She becomes first woman from India who wins gold medal in paralympics.

China's Cuiping Zhang won silver medal with the total score of 248.9 while Ukraine's Iryna Shchetnik clinched bronze medal.

Avani Lekhara consistently scored more than 10 points and just two shots of her went below 10 points. In the qualification round, Avani was finished at seventh position with the total score of 621.7.

Prime minister Narendra Modi congratulates Avani Lekhara. He wrote, "Phenomenal performance @AvaniLekhara! Congratulations on winning a hard-earned and well-deserved Gold, made possible due to your industrious nature and passion towards shooting. This is truly a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes for your future endeavours."

On Sunday, Bhavinaben Patel has also won silver medal in the table-tennis and she becomes first woman who won medal in the table-tennis. Before Avani and Bhavina, PCI Chief Deepa Malik was the only woman who was won medal in the paralympics.

Deepa had won silver medal at the Rio 2016 paralympics.
