India vs New Zealand 1st Test 2021:- Match drawn, debutant Shreyas Iyer becomes the player of the match

The two matches test series between India and New Zealand stands 0-0 as no result of the first test. India's debutant Shreyas Iyer becomes the player of the match. He hit century in the first innings and half-century in the second innings.

The 1st Test match between India and New Zealand has ended in a draw after bad light comes on the last day. The 2 matches test series stands 0-0 as no result of the first test. India's Shreyas Iyer becomes the player of the match. He made debut in the test cricket from this match and hit century in the first innings and half-century in the second innings.

On the last day, India needed to take 10 wickets of New Zealand to win the match but New Zealand's debutant Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel didn't let it happen as they stayed at the crease till the end. As a result, match ended in draw.

India's spin bowlers played a very significant role in this test. In the first innings, Axar patel took 5 wickets whereas Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets. In the second innings, Ravindra Jadeja took 4/40 wickets and Ashwin again took 3 wickets.

When India's top players were not performing well then Shreyas Iyer preserved the team. He scored 105 in the first innings and with the help of his century, India made a good score of 345.

New Zealand's openers Tom Latham and Will Young made the partnership of 150 runs in the first innings and gave a brilliant start to New Zealand but on the next day, India's spinners changed the whole game. With the help of Axar Patel's 5 wickets haul and Ashwin's 3 wickets, India restrained New Zealand to 296 and took the lead of 49 runs.

In the second innings, India's top players again failed to score well and again Shreyas Iyer preserved India. Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha gave good company to Iyer. In this innings, Iyer scored 65 and Wriddhiman Saha scored 61*. With their help, India declared its second innings at 234/7.

Now, New Zealand had to achieve the target of 284 and India needed to take 10 wickets on the last day to win the game. The spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin did their best to all out the New Zealand but they couldn't take the last wicket. New Zealand scored 165/9 and the match drawn.

From India's batting line-up Shreyas Iyer becomes highest scorer and from New Zealand's side, opener Tom Latham made highest score. Tom Latham scored 95 in the first innings and 52 in the second innings.

India's spinners Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja proved good for India but on the other side, New Zealand's pacers Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson took most wickets. Tim Southee took 5 wickets in the first innings whereas Jamieson took 3 wickets. In the second innings, both the pacers took 3-3 wickets.

The 1st test in Green park, Kanpur ended without any result. Now, 2nd test between both the teams will be played from December 3 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Virat Kohli will join the team in the second test and will lead the team.
