Telugu lyricist Sirivennela Sitharama Sastry dies due to lung cancer at 66

 Sirivennela was awarded with Padma Shri in 2019 for his excellence work in art. Sirivennela has penned lyrics for over 3000 songs. Many politicians and celebrities paid him tribute.

A renowned telugu lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry dies due to lung cancer on tuesday. He was admitted in ICU in the KIMS hospital, Secunderabad. He was 66.

Sirivennela was awarded with Padma Shri in 2019 for his excellence work in art. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award of India. Many politicians and celebrities paid him tribute.

Prime minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Saddened by the passing away of the outstanding Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. His poetic brilliance and versatility could be seen in several of his works. He made many efforts to popularise Telugu. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti."

 Telugu actor Mahesh Babu wrote, "Deeply saddened by the loss of lyrical genius Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry garu. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Rest in peace sir.. You will be terribly missed"

 Actor Junior NTR wrote, "The news that Sirivennela Sitaramashastri was no more made me very upset. Although his pen, written by Aluperugaka, is still standing today, the letters he wrote will remain memorable to all as long as the Telugu language exists. I wholeheartedly pray to that God to grant peace to his soul."

Sirivennela has penned lyrics for over 3000 songs. He had got the name of Sirivennela after writing the lyrics for K. Vishwanath's directorial film 'Sirivennela' in 1986.

He got famous after the song 'Vidhata Thalapuna', which was in the movie 'Sirivennela.' He wrote lyrics for songs for many films such as Govinda Govinda, Criminal, Shubhalagnam, Srikaram, Sindhooram, Prem Katha, Chakram, Jagamantha Kutumbam, Gamyam, Mahatma, Kanche and many more.

He achieved 11 state Nandi awards and 4 Filmfare awards South for his work.
